Drink 8 glasses of water

Myth: We need 8 glasses of water a day to be healthy.

Truth: I’ll probably get some flak for this one. You don’t need to drink 8 glasses of water a day. Believe it or not you get a lot of your water from the foods you eat…fruits, veggies etc. Unless you’re running a marathon, or performing in some other endurance event, or have diarrhea (or vomiting), there is really no need to drink that much water. There is no science to back this up…there never was. Legend (yes, I said legend) has it that this all started with a report from the Food and Nutrition board back in 1945, which stated that adults needed  about 2.5 L of water a day. This works out to be about 8 glasses. But, if anybody bothered to read the rest of it, they would have known that the report also stated that most of it comes from food. Everyone ignored the crucial last sentence, and thus a myth was born out of laziness and ignorance. Drink as much as you need to avoid being dehydrated.
